Dear Dr. Paul,

I am pleased to offer this letter of support to Care Connection Aging and Disability Resource Center’s grant application related to older refugees’ and immigrants’ direct access to long-term health care services and supports. We are particularly excited about this proposal because the target populations are seniors and persons with disabilities.

We support the goals of this proposal to assist refugees and immigrants of any age with chronic health conditions or refugees and immigrants with intellectual disabilities or other cognitive, developmental or physical disabilities or who are older connect with Care Connection to make use of the abundant healthcare resources available. This project will serve to educate refugees and new immigrants on Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security and private health care options.

Through this collaboration, the following will be provided:

  • Vietnamese Community of Houston & Vicinities (VNCH) will work to connect refugees and/or immigrants to Care Connection in order to help them access long-term health or social services, when applicable.
  • VNCH  will work with Care Connection to promote the workshop events and provide a worker to assist with on-site guidance related to long-term care services and supports at the workshops.
  • VNCH will participate in the creation of the promotional and educational videos.

Because refugees and immigrants are underserved in our Region, we are excited to work with Care Connection Aging and Disability Resource Center to reach out to these groups.  We look forward to this partnership in order to assist refugees to access available long-term health care resources and I am assured that the refugee and immigrant community will benefit from this collaboration.

Respectfully,

Joe Phan

President of VNCH
